Independence Day is a celebration to commemorate when the American colonies' legally separated from Great Britain in 1776. And did you know the Declaration of Independence was approved on July 2nd, not July 4th? Most delegates actually signed the declaration on August 2nd. But if you ask me, it's WAY too hot to celebrate in August, so July is just fine! : -)
